Maybe you've never thought about it. Or maybe somewhere at the back of your mind, you knew they had them, but it never occurred to know where they are.

If you're one of those then, welcome to the club

And yes, before you ask, ALL birds have ears

The little holes on the sides of their heads allow them to hear, similar to yours and mine.

Birds don't have external ear lobes like humans or other mammals do. Their ears look more like small folds of flesh and the feathers are there to protect them from water and air turbulence.

Birds actually have a keen sense of hearing. Some birds, such as penguins and flamingos, can identify members of the family based on their calls, even when they are among thousands of others in a noisy flock.

Not only do they have ears, birds can also get infections, but they don't show very obvious signs when they do. According to a bird and exotic animal clinic in Australia, "ear infections can just appear as ruffled feathers, repetitive yawning motions ('popping' their ears), head rubbing, or a slight head tilt".
