Backed by 15 years of research in epigenetics — the study of how chemical modifications to DNA can influence gene activity without altering the genetic code — this serum is designed to address multiple signs of skin ageing.
Skin ageing is influenced by both genetics and external factors such as stress, diet, UV exposure, and sleep patterns. Unlike permanent mutations, changes due to epigenetics are reversible, offering new possibilities for skin rejuvenation.
Beiersdorf's patented skin-specific "age clock", developed in 2021, measures the biological age of skin cells. This technology has been instrumental in identifying and reversing epigenetic changes associated with ageing, paving the way for innovative skincare solutions.

Beiersdorf's epigenetics team has screened over 50,000 substances to identify effective natural ingredients for skin restoration
The serum's key ingredient, epicelline, was developed for its ability to visibly slow down the signs of ageing. Other active components include glycine saponin, enoxolone, and both macro and micro hyaluronic acid, which work together to reduce wrinkle volume and improve skin vitality.

The Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Epicelline Serum combines advanced science with powerful active ingredients to address multiple signs of ageing. Its formulation includes:
- Epicelline: A patented ingredient that works to visibly slow the skin's ageing process
- Hyaluronic acid: Macro and micro molecules to hydrate and plump the skin
- Glycine saponin: Boosts natural hyaluronic acid production
- Enoxolone: Protects skin from environmental stressors
Beiersdorf's dedication to skincare innovation is reflected in its 291-million-euro (RM1.3 billion) investment in research and development in 2022 alone
According to Dr Gitta Neufang, Senior Vice President of Research and Development, the goal is not only to address visible signs of ageing but to fundamentally rejuvenate skin cells.
Dr Christopher Vierhaus, Country Manager for Beiersdorf Malaysia & Singapore, highlighted the importance of this breakthrough, explaining, "As a skincare company, we have more than 140 years of experience in skin research. We have now reached a new stage in the evolution of skincare to discover new active ingredients that slow down the skin's 'age clock' — for visible skin restoration.
"This will enable us to offer our consumers significant added value in the future, so that they can feel even more comfortable in their own skin for even longer," he added.
