This Scrub & Lymphatic Detox Massage Will Make You Feel Like A 'Tai Tai' For The Day
Get treated like the royalty you are.
Sometimes, all you need is a good scrub and a bit of pampering to hit the reset button
If the stress of a long week (or even a year) has left you feeling grimy and lethargic, it might be time for some self-care.
I recently visited Urban Retreat Spa at 163 Retail Park, Mont Kiara, to indulge in their Lymphatic Detox Massage and Body Scrub, and let me tell you, it was pure bliss.
This was my first time trying out their Lymphatic Detox Massage and Body Scrub. As soon as you walk in, the staff greet you with a drink, offer a dessert choice for later, and help you select your preferred scrub and scent. I went for the deep clean scrub.
We started with a quick foot rinse before the masseuse led me into an aromatherapy-infused room with a shower.
Every detail, from the heated beds to the fresh hair ties, was thoughtfully arranged
During the 60-minute session, the masseuse meticulously scrubbed every inch of my body, paying special attention to dry or sweaty spots like the elbows, behind the knees, and the soles of my feet (yes, it tickled a little!).
When she was done, I took a quick 10-minute rinse in the shower while she stepped out.
She even pre-adjusted the water temperature, so I didn't have to fuss with it — a thoughtful touch!
I felt like I'd shed a couple of kilos of dead skin. The shea butter in the scrub was incredibly moisturising, and even the roughest parts of my skin felt smooth, like they were seeing the light of day for the first time in years.
After that, I was given a fresh robe to wear and guided to a different room for the massage.
They even provided a woven bag for my clothes to make it easier to carry them to the next room.
Wondering what a lymphatic massage does? I was too.
Essentially, a lymphatic detox massage helps with detoxification, reducing swelling and inflammation, relaxation, and sometimes even pain relief.
When your lymphatic system is blocked, extra fluid can build up in your tissues, and a good lymphatic massage helps clear that, kind of like unclogging a drain.
Some people with conditions like fibromyalgia and arthritis may even find pain relief through a lymphatic massage.
My masseuse used light, rhythmic strokes and a massage fork to stimulate the lymphatic system and flush out toxins.
Note that while a lymphatic massage isn't a full-body massage, it has its own set of benefits. You might feel a bit fatigued afterward, which just means your body is processing toxins more effectively.
For women, do note that the massage includes the breasts to help boost circulation and improve breast tissue health.
After the 90-minute session, I enjoyed some drinks and dessert to replenish
Would I recommend this? Absolutely. Unlike traditional massages that mainly focus on relaxation, a lymphatic massage specifically targets your lymphatic system's function.
Not only will it help improve your overall wellbeing, you'll also enjoy the soothing and relaxing benefits of a traditional massage in some ways.
Plus, the Body Scrub is a relaxing way to refresh your body from the Malaysian humidity. And if you're looking for a gift to pamper someone special, it's a great choice!
