7 Places Offering Free Transport To Help Senior Citizens Get Their COVID-19 Vaccines

1. GoCar

GoCar Malaysia is providing free shuttle services to all senior citizens aged 60 and above as well as people with disabilities (OKUs) to their vaccine appointments.

Under the GoVax initiative, drivers will send the individual with confirmed appointments at any one of these five vaccination centres:
- Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre
- Shah Alam Hospital
- Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) Shah Alam
- Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC)
- Klinik Rakan Medik, Petaling Jaya

The booking needs to be made at least three days prior to the appointment date.

Promotion period:
Available until 31 August 2021.

2. Grab

Grab Malaysia is offering RM8 off four rides to senior citizens aged 60 and above to their vaccination centres nationwide.

They are also encouraging family members of senior citizens to go through the verification steps on the Grab app to redeem the discounts, as well as accompany their elderly loved ones during the discounted ride.

Promotion period:
Register by 7 June 2021 to claim the discount.

3. Teman

Teman Malaysia offers companionship services so that someone can accompany your elderly parents to their vaccination appointment if you are busy or away from home.

Their usual packages start from as low as RM70 for 2 hours, however, the company is also providing free services for those who are having financial difficulties during this challenging time.

They are encouraging those in need to take up the empty slots paid ahead by people who have donated to them.

MakCik Travels also offers chaperone services to provide transport and company to senior citizens and people with disabilities to their vaccination appointments.

While their rates start from RM50 for the first two hours, the company is also organising a fundraiser to offer free services to senior citizens and OKUs in the B40 group in need of help.

5. Community service by Subang Jaya ADUN

Subang Jaya assemblywoman (ADUN) Michelle Ng recently announced that they have started an initiative to help people get through these challenging times.

As one of their efforts, they are providing free transport to senior citizens living in Subang Jaya to get to their vaccination appointments.

6. Community service by Seremban MP

Seremban member of parliament (MP) Anthony Loke also recently announced a few initiatives to help Seremban residents get though the lockdown together.

He has announced that the Seremban MP Service Centre will provide a free taxi service to senior citizens aged 60 years and above, disabled people, and pregnant women who need transportation to vaccination centres around the state.

7. Community service by Bukit Mertajam MP

Following suit, Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim has also started an initiative to help vulnerable groups get to vaccination centres, while also helping struggling taxi drivers.

The Bukit Mertajam MP Service Centre has decided to provide free taxi services to senior citizens aged 60 and above, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women to get to their vaccination appointments.
