Kids say some of the funniest things, amirite?

But what makes it even funnier is when it comes out of your own child's mouth. Unexpected, yet hilarious, we live for moments like this — in fact, it kinda reflects your child's little brain in action, hehe.

In collaboration with Aptamil™ KID, we spoke to a few Malaysian parents to find out some of the funny conversations they've had with their kids.

Here are a few of our favourite conversations:

1. "I don't eat colour"

Jace: "What's that?"

Me: "It's a peach. You wanna try it?"

Jace: "Ew no. I don't eat peach."

Me: "Why not? Peaches are delicious!"

Jace: "Peach is a colour. I don't eat colour."

2. "No, I just walk into the classroom"

Me: "So Aria, is your classroom upstairs or downstairs?"

Aria: "No, just walk into the classroom."

Me: "Ya, I know. So is it upstairs or downstairs?"

Aria: "No, Mummy. I just walk straight into the classroom."

Me: "Yes, I know. Your school has two floors right? And got stairs right? So is your classroom upstairs?"

(Aria's classroom is actually on the ground floor)

Aria: "No, Mummy! I don't go up the stairs or go down the stairs. So, my classroom is not upstairs or downstairs. I just walk straight into the classroom."

Me: "Okay, you have a point."

3. "No, Mummy. I can't give you a free flight. Maybe I give you a discount, but only for flights within Malaysia."

Me: "What's your ambition?"

Zarif: "I want to be a pilot."

Me: "Oh, that's exciting. That means we will get free flights, right?"

(My son turned and looked at me like I was crazy)

Zarif: "No, Mummy. I can't give you a free flight. I’m also the boss of the airline and I will lose money! Maybe I give you a discount, but only for flights within Malaysia. International? Full price."

- Niza, 34 years old

4. "We should give the sky a teddy bear"

(It was raining, and we were in the car on the way to daycare)

Me: "Look, it's raining. The sky is crying."

Miranda: "Oh, the sky is crying? Is it sad? We should give it a teddy bear?"

Me: "A teddy bear? Why?"

Miranda: "So it feels better because the sky is crying"

Me: :')

5. "Mummy, you're so poor"

(Backstory, since the pandemic I've hardly carried cash around. There have been a few times I've found myself needing cash — for something small or parking — and panicking, frantically searching for my husband or an ATM. One day, my four-year-old had something to tell me.)

Ju: "Mummy, you're so poor! I want to work hard one day, so I can give you money. You're always out of money, poor thing."

- Michelle, 34 years old.
