If your child dreams of being a firefighter or just has a fascination with fire engines, this is for you!

The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia allows you to host birthday parties for children at selected Bomba stations.

And yes, it's completely free!

At these parties, the Balai Bomba offers both fun and educational activities for the children

They can try on firefighter uniforms and gear, and enjoy a ride on a fire truck around the station with the siren blaring.

Firefighters will also teach them how to use the actual water hoses to put out a fire, practise the 'Stop, Drop, and Roll' drill, and how to call 999 in case of an emergency.

There may also be some water-splashing fun during the party, as firefighters spray hoses from afar for the children to enjoy.

So, prepare your guests to get wet!

Take note that you will need to plan the food and seating arrangements (tables and chairs if needed) in advance, as the fire station will only provide the venue and activities.

There may be some seating available, or the children might sit on the floor, so it is advisable to check with the fire station beforehand.

How do I book a party at a Bomba station?

All you need to do is contact your selected fire station directly to check if they allow such events. Remember to contact them via their official number and obviously, not the emergency number.

Some popular stations that have hosted children's birthday parties in the past include the Taman Tun Dr Ismail and the Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Stations.

Do note that you might be placed on a waiting list, as these stations can be quite popular, and some people often book two to three months in advance.

You may also be required to write an official letter and email it or hand-deliver it to the selected fire station.

The letter should include details such as your intention to host a birthday party, the date and time of the party, and the number of children who will be attending.

If you wish to set up any decorations, you can contact the station directly to inquire if this is possible.

They may allow you to set up a day in advance and require the decorations to be placed in a specific area that doesn't obstruct the station's operations in case of an emergency.

Though there is no charge for the venue and activities, it is advisable to offer a small token of appreciation or provide food for the firefighters (ensure the food is halal, as some of the firefighters may be Muslim)
