Here's How To Apply For Your Child's MyKid Now That Applications Have Reopened
If you applied for a MyKid before June 2023 and still haven't received it, you have until 31 October to reconfirm your application.

Earlier last month, the National Registration Department (JPN) announced it would start accepting MyKid applications again, starting 29 July
This follows JPN's announcement in June last year that it had suspended the issuance of MyKid cards due to a global chip shortage.
Parents who applied for their child's MyKid before the suspension have until 31 October 2024 to reconfirm their application, before collecting the card at their designated JPN office.
How to review your pending MyKid application:
STEP 1: Visit this website
STEP 2: Fill out your child's MyKid number (found at the top right of birth certificate) and birth certificate number, then click 'Semak'
STEP 3: Click 'Cetak MyKid'
STEP 4: Head over to the designated JPN office with these documents:
- Your child's original birth certificate
- Notis Kutipan MyKid — this is given during your initial application
- Your (the applicant's) MyKad
Do note that your child does not need to be present for you to collect their MyKid.
Should I apply for a MyKid for my child?
Any parent can apply for a MyKid from the day their child is born up to the age of 12.
While it is not mandatory, having a MyKid can provide extra convenience to parents, as you won't need to carry around your child's original birth certificate for official purposes. The MyKid can be used to pass through airport security, get medical treatment, access pre-school services, and more.
Its features are similar to those of the MyKad except that it does not contain a photograph and thumbprints.
Here's how to apply for your child's MyKid at a JPN office:
STEP 1: Take a number at any JPN counter.
STEP 2: When your number is called, proceed to the counter with your child's original birth certificate and your (applicant's) MyKad, and inform the officer you would like to apply for a MyKid
STEP 3: The application is free, and the officer will inform you when you can collect the printed MyKid
