Here's What To Do If It's Your First Time Applying For Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR)
Applications for Phase 1 STR 2025 are now open.
Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) is a financial aid programme by the Malaysian government to help alleviate the impact of rising living costs
According to a Facebook post by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), applications for Phase 1 of STR 2025 are open until 30 November.
However, new applications can be submitted throughout the year.
Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply for STR.
Here are the eligibility criteria:
Households
- Single parents with a monthly income of RM5,000 and below
Senior citizens without spouses
- Either unmarried or single individuals who do not have children
- Aged 60 years old and above
- Monthly income of RM5,000 and below
Single individuals without children
- Aged 21 to 59 years old
- Person with disabilities (OKU)
- Is not a full-time public or private university student
- Has a monthly income of RM2,500 and below
Single individuals including disabled persons aged 19 and above who are still studying full-time at public or private educational institutions can only be included as children or dependents under the household application. They are not allowed to apply under the single persons category.

Before you apply, here are some documents you need to prepare during your STR application:
Single applicants
- Copy of the Marriage Certificate issued by the Department of Islamic Religion State/National Registration Department (JPN); or
- Copy of spouse's Death Certificate issued by JPN; or
- Divorce/Dissolution of Marriage Certificate (original and certified copy) issued by the State Department of Islamic Religion/JPN; or
- Copy of Certificate of Decree Nisi/Absolute Decree Nisi issued by the Court; or
- Copy of OKU Card issued by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) for applicants aged 19 to 20 years old in 2025
For couples
- Copy of Passport, Visa, UNHCR, or border pass
For children
- Copy of MyKad/MyKid
- Copy of Birth Certificate or Adopted Child Registration Certificate
Here's a step-by-step guide to apply:

Step 1: Visit the official STR portal: https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my.
Step 2: Create an account or log in if you already have one. If you are a new applicant, click "Permohonan Baharu STR" and fill in the relevant information, including your IC number, home address, mobile number, marital status, bank and account number, beneficiary and their information.
Step 3: Upload the necessary documents at the bottom of the page. Once you're done, you can submit!
Step 4: After submitting your application, you can track its status online through the STR portal or by contacting the relevant hotlines.
Eligible recipients will receive the aid in stages, either directly to your bank account or as cash at a Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch if you don't have a bank account.
You can also apply manually by filling out the STR application form (BK-01)
You can obtain this form from either the official STR portal, LHDN offices, LHDN satellite offices, or Urban Transformation Centres (UTC).
Make sure to bring along copies of the required documents and you can submit the completed form at any LHDN office.
If you were a recipient of STR 2024, you do not need to reapply
To avoid your STR application being overlooked, keep your information current. You should update your application if any details have changed, and if it's been three years since your last update, refresh your information to ensure it's considered.
If you can't locate your application on the portal, submit a new one.
