This Langkawi Boutique Hotel Has 8 Historic Buildings That'll Transport You To The 1930s

While six of the structures act solely as accommodation for the resort, the other two buildings (combined) act as a restaurant, bar, reception, and additional ensuite guest rooms. 

With each building possessing a special feature representing its own unique history, let's explore each of them before moving to the other amenities this alluring hotel has to offer.

Built in the 1940s, this Malay kampung house was originally from the town of Mantin in Negeri Sembilan. 

With stained glass incorporated into the windows of the many rooms in this dwelling, a spacious living room and traditional ligneous dining set greets you at the entrance of the home.

Together with a master bedroom that possesses a wooden bathtub and an additional bathroom, there's also an adjoining bedroom with two single beds perfect for a small family.

Built over 100 years ago in Batu Pahat, Johor, this house was created and designed by a Chinese family. A key feature of this locale are the Taiwanese accents scattered throughout the quarters. 

After going through a beautifying facelift, the Johor House has two suites: one upstairs and one downstairs. With verandas located on three sides of each suite, this house manages to look brand new while holding onto its antiquities.

Originally built in the 1930s, Penang House was originally located next to Gurney Drive. With vibrant exterior colours, the inside has been up-kept without changing key aspects of the assembly. 

Described as ideal for larger families, Penang House has two connecting suites. Nonetheless, if you're the kind of person that craves your privacy, each suite has its own separate entrance and living area.

As one of the bigger structures in Temple Tree Resort, the Colonial House was built by the Arabs in the 1920s in George Town. With ample space for entertaining and accommodating company, bring a colony of your friends if you choose this house for your stay.

Downstairs lay two bedrooms, each possessing their own entrances and gardens, with lounges outside for sunbathing, and wooden bathtubs if you're feeling a little extra during bath time.

On the upstairs floor, a large open space used as a living room connects to a separate bathroom, making up one suite. Separately, the biggest room of the entire Colonial House encompasses a shutter veranda, a living space, and two bedrooms with their own ensuite toilets. 

The only antique house from Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, this house was used as accommodation quarters for Indian rubber estate workers in the 1940s.

Converted into a five bedroom bungalow, every single room has their own verandah, a private garden, and ensuite bathroom. The most charming part about this historic home are the decorative aspects, as they differ from room to room.

It should be noted, however, that only three of the five bathrooms retain showers and wooden bathtubs, while the remaining two only have showers. 

The third and final building structure from Penang, this Malay artisan house was built in the 1930s, and possesses imperial-styled shutters with a central courtyard. 

With six separate suites in tandem with three different living areas, this house can hold up to 18 people at once. Evidently, this would be a great treat for a large group of friends, or even for vacations with extended family members.

All the local and house specials are served up between 8am to 11pm, daily. With breakfast taking up the 8am to 11.30am slot, the lunch, snack, and dinner menus are open from 11.30am until 10pm.

While you can only see this beautiful sunset from one of the two pools, a special feature of the beach at Temple Tree Resort is its location. 

Situated just a few minutes away from Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah, this strategic location makes it easy to access the party-central of Langkawi, and still totter back home without needing to lug around a car or worry about travel time.
