Sasha Bashir, the queen of Halloween, is back at it again

The mother of two, who absolutely thrives during this time of year, has returned, dressed as even more over-the-top characters for the festivities.

Last year, she challenged herself to create 10 character looks, including Cruella de Vil and Red Riding Hood. This year, the former TV host and actress aimed for something different— blending two characters into a single image.

Taking her transformations up a notch, she styled herself as Morticia and Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family, Coraline and Other Mother from the movie Coraline, as well as Dorothy and the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz

"I wanted to try to push myself again in terms of creativity by becoming two characters within one image. So, that's how I came up with the idea for this year's shoot," she shared with SAYS.

She set up a black backdrop by buying 15m of black fabric and draping it over an outdoor wall at her house.

"My photographer, Jay Ismail, who has worked with me since 2021 for these shoots also had to up his game this year 'cause we had to shoot me as both characters separately and then combine them into one image later," she explained.

"Just for fun I also bought 8kg of dry ice to use as another element for the shoot but unfortunately, it didn't work out," she added.

Using a combination of wigs and her own natural hair for the different character looks, Sasha said the trickiest bit was making two big, approximately one-inch black buttons stay on her eyelids for Other Mother from the 2009 film, Coraline

"I used double-sided tape and and tried not to move too much," said Sasha.

Below is a shot inspired by the Lovers of Valdaro — a pair of human skeletons dated approximately 6,000 years old

"The two individuals were buried face to face with their arms around each other, in a position reminiscent of a 'lover's embrace'.

"They were discovered by archaeologists at a Neolithic tomb in San Giorgio near Mantua, Italy, in 2007.

"I was so touched by the image and the eternal love it represents and came up with this gothic inspired interpretation of it for Halloween," Sasha shared.

Of course, the fun part is in putting together the costumes.

"I have always been into costuming, fashion, and storytelling and Halloween has become a fun way for me to combine all these elements I love," she shared.

Being a big Barbie fan and with the movie released this year, she couldn't resist featuring a Barbie-inspired look. She chose 'Weird Barbie', a character from the movie symbolising quirky dolls that have been disfigured by rough play.

"I purchased the pink dress on Shein and went nuts with my acrylic paints like what Weird Barbie's dress looks like [in the movie] — which is as if a child unleashed a whole heap of pent up energy onto it! Hahaha! My second son helped me a little bit too by using a Sharpie and scribbling on it," she added.
