Viral Video About Those 'Mystery' Zara Symbols Isn't True. Here's What They Really Mean
A Zara representative debunked it.
A video of someone explaining the meaning behind mysterious symbols on the tags of Zara clothing went viral earlier this year.
But as it turns out, it's not actually true.
Content creator and fashion enthusiast @stylexfox shared a video explaining that there are tiny symbols on the labels of Zara clothing that supposedly determine the sizing of each piece.
In the video, she explains that the triangle shape indicates that the "size runs small", while the circle suggest it "runs big", and the square shape means the item is "true to size".
Her video has garnered over 19.6 million plays.

However, it appears that the symbols serve a very different purpose — one that has nothing to do with sizing
The team at Zara told Metro.co.uk that "these symbols reference specific sections within the store to support colleagues in knowing where to place items".
The circle refers to the Zara Woman's section, the square is for basics, and the triangle represents Trafaluc or TRF, which is one of Zara's ladieswear collection aimed at younger customers.
"Essentially, they are a blueprint for Zara employees to follow — so they know which pieces go where, when they are hanging them out in the shops," stated Metro.co.uk.
Multiple people online claiming to be former Zara employees also confirmed this
The 'secret' symbols also exist at Zara outlets in Malaysia
SAYS conducted a check at a local Zara store to confirm this and we spotted all three symbols on each of these Zara clothing items:

So, the next time you're at Zara, just know that these shapes are for their employees and don't have anything to do with sizing.
