Once a civil engineering contractor, Mama Cah never imagined she'd one day be running a booming food business.

In 2018, she left the engineering field and ventured into the F&B industry. Within the same year, she started Mama Cah Kitchen, sharing her recipes and cooking content on TikTok. As her views increased, she decided to try out TikTok Shop.

Today, her homemade bak chang sells out within minutes on TikTok Shop, proving that passion and the right platform can change everything.

2. @barangdapurbasah: From business failure and overwhelming debt to becoming one of the first to offer cleaned, prepped, and doorstep-delivered fresh groceries

Didi is the founder of BARANGDAPURBASAH.

Formerly a mechanical engineer, she and her husband made an impulsive decision to quit their jobs and start a business in 2012. Unfortunately, the business failed after just three months.

Sharing her story, Didi says she and her husband were left drowning in debt and regretting their decision to leave their jobs. As the banks began calling to collect payments, the couple survived by selling pre-loved clothes and homemade treats to make ends meet.

By early 2014, Didi's husband managed to secure a job, while she decided to pursue her master's degree in environmental engineering. She continued to sell cookies to help repay their debts.

A year later, Didi came up with the idea of offering fresh groceries that were cleaned, prepped, and delivered straight to customers' doorsteps. With her husband's encouragement, she started advertising her services. After two weeks, her ad went viral, leading to a slew of online orders.

Today, the couple own four BARANGDAPURBASAH outlets with nearly 40 employees. Didi has continued to expand the business on TikTok Shop, now offering ready-to-eat products and meals.

Didi attributes her success to her mother, Samsiah bt Saad, who made a special prayer for her when she was on her Hajj pilgrimage.

Sales were slow at first, but she discovered the trick to going viral — storytelling. She began showcasing her soft cookies on TikTok while sharing stories about customer experiences, break ups, heartfelt exchanges, and wholesome moments.

By joining TikTok Shop, Amora was able to scale her business. From earning around RM1,000 a month, her business now generates over five figures monthly.
