Sharing a space with BookXcess, Shhhbuuuleee is a hole in the wall, as many only tend to stumble upon it if they are on the top floor of the bookstore or have seen it appear on their social media feeds.
With ambient house music playing in the background and a chilled open-air ambience, the resto-bar welcomes customers with a relaxing hangout space, whether it's for a date or a casual meetup with friends.

Set against a backdrop of KL Tower and Jalan Sultan, the outdoor view is beautiful no matter what time of day it is
Alternatively, there's an indoor seating area if you prefer that or if you're coming in a larger group.

Helmed by chef Mui Kai Quan, who has traversed the globe in kitchens of great restaurants, such as three-Michelin star Maaemo in Oslo, two-Michelin star The Ledbury in London, and trend-setting Esquina in Singapore, Shhhbuuuleee features reimagined classic dishes inspired by the spread served at his Hakka family table and his travels through the region.
His desire is to highlight the culinary heritage of his ancestors while thinking sustainably, not just in terms of carbon footprint, but also to be zero-waste.

We got the chance to try 10 dishes from the menu, as well as dessert. The ones that really stood out were the smoked beef tongue with sweet jicama slices grilled over binchotan and bound with peanut sauce, as well as the charcoal grilled Black Angus steak, cold somen with raw scallops, and charred peppers with a peanut and sesame dip.
Packed with flavour, these small platters paired impeccably with our drink of the night, saké.
The beverage menu also includes shochus, craft beers, whisky highballs, and we were informed that a variety of other cocktails will be added soon. Perfect for a night out ;)
