There's A Nasi Lemak Granola If You Want A Healthy Breakfast Alternative
Nasi lemak but crunchy.
When you hear granola, you would typically think of a bowl of sweet, crunchy oats, nuts, and seeds. But, picture this: the iconic flavours of nasi lemak in the form of granola clusters.
A local Malaysian brand, Gila Goodness, has found a way to blend the wholesome goodness of granola with the flavours of our favourite fragrant delicacy.
Nasi lemak is a breakfast item that we Malaysians enjoy almost on a daily basis. It isn't even necessarily limited to just breakfast; you can eat it at any time of the day. But let's face it, nasi lemak is pretty bad for your health, especially if you consume too much of it.
Gila Goodness came up with Nasi Lemak granola, which is made with rolled oats, whole almonds, crunchy groundnuts, shredded coconut, ikan bilis, and baked with a coating of the company's signature sambal blend.
And it's low-calorie, making it ideal for a healthy breakfast.

Nasi Lemak granola was born out of a desire for a healthy yet still delicious alternative to the iconic dish
Theresa, a public relations consultant, was having her usual dinner of granola, paired with some fruits. It was much too sweet and that's when the idea came to her: why not make a savoury granola that tasted like nasi lemak?
She pitched the idea to her friend and skilled cook, Vivien, who told her that the idea was crazy. However, as she thought about it, she decided to take on the challenge.
And this led to the establishment of Gila Goodness.

Gila Goodness also offers two other locally flavoured granola: Onde-Onde and Tom Yum.
All three flavours are available in two forms: the classic granola, and Gila Goodness Bites, which are bite-sized snackable chunks.

Here's how you can enjoy the Nasi Lemak granola
As mentioned, granola is typically sweet and enjoyed with dairy products like milk or yoghurt. But trying to do the same with savoury-flavoured granola like nasi lemak sounds like a bad combination.
Gila Goodness recommends pairing the savoury granola with some Greek yoghurt, fresh vegetables like cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, and a hard-boiled egg to fully enjoy it.
If you find that's a bit much for you, you could also sprinkle the granola on your salad or omelette as a condiment. Alternatively, you could simply munch on it like a snack!
