3 People In Penang Killed After Their Car Crashes Into A Tree And Goes Up In Flames
Police are trying to track down people who knew the victims and urged those with missing family members or acquaintances to reach out to the authorities.

Three individuals were recently killed in a tragic accident where a car rammed into a tree before catching fire in Penang
New Straits Times reported that the incident took place around 3.05am today, 16 August, at Jalan Masjid Negeri in George Town.
Northeast district police chief ACP Soffian Santong said that police received a call about an accident involving a Toyota Vios, which was believed to have skidded and rammed into a tree at the junction.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found that the car was more than 90% burnt.
The fire was brought under control at about 3.20am.
According to Berita Harian, there were three victims, believed to be two men and one woman, who were trapped in the car.
The men were found in the driver's seat and the back passenger seat while the woman was in the front passenger's seat next to the driver.
"Firemen used special tools to extricate the victims at 3.05am. They were all pronounced dead by health officials that arrived at the location," said a spokesperson of the Fire and Rescue Department.

Police are now looking to identify the victims' family members to assist in investigations
The remains have been sent to the Penang Hospital Forensic Unit for post-mortem and police are still investigating the cause of the crash and trying to identify the victims.
The case is probed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Soffian told Bernama, "Members of the public who have any information on the incident and anyone with missing family members or acquaintances may contact the investigating officer, Insp Nizam Abdullah, at +6010-9771517 or contact the nearest police station to assist investigations."
