Baby Dies After Being Left In Car Because Doctor Mum Forgot To Drop Her At Daycare
The eight-month old baby was left in the vehicle for 10 hours.
An eight-month-old baby died after she was left in a vehicle parked at Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM) in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur for 10 hours yesterday, 5 October
According to New Straits Times, the baby girl's mother works as a doctor at HCTM.
The mother mistakenly left her daughter in the vehicle, thinking that she had already dropped the baby off at a daycare centre.
"Based on initial investigations, the victim's mother had, at 7.20am (on Thursday), placed the child on the left hand side of the rear passenger seat to send her to the daycare centre.
"However, the mother drove straight to the hospital, somehow thinking that she had already sent the child to the centre," said Cheras police chief ACP Zam Halim.
He added that the mother only realised the baby was in the vehicle when her husband informed her that their daughter was not at the daycare centre.

Zam Halim said the case has been classified as a sudden death report, but further investigations are being carried out under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence, reported Harian Metro.
"Anyone with information on the case should contact the Cheras police hotline at 03-92845050/5051, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-21159999, or head to the nearest police station," he said.
