A man was caught on camera trying to reserve a parking space by standing in it at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair that was held in Kuala Lumpur recently

The MATTA Fair was held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Segambut from 17 March to 19 March.

The video, uploaded by TikTok user @larojtfl, showed a man standing in a parking spot and trying to book, or 'chup' as we say locally, the space for a car that is not seen.

By doing so, he prevented a woman driver, who was recording the video, from parking there

"Serious ah bro, 'chup' parking? Really?" she questioned him.

"Bro, I know you want to go MATTA Fair, I also want to go, but you cannot like this," she said.

He defended his actions, saying, "My car is just behind there."

To which, the woman replied, "Yes, I know your car is actually just there, but it's not here."

However, the man smiled and continued to argue that his car was nearby, while still 'chupping' the parking spot.

"You're making this such a big deal but my car is just there," he repeated.

He also kept silent when the woman confronted him about how could he send another car, who was waiting in front of her, away from the parking space too.

The TikTok has since been viewed over 500,000 times, garnering comments from netizens who criticised the man for being so stubborn

"[The] scary part is he thinks he's right," said a concerned TikTok user.

Another said in jest, "Just park in front of him and wait also lah."

Meanwhile, others commended the woman driver for calmly telling the man off for his poor behaviour.

"She is so soft spoken. Salute her for her attitude," one said.

You can be fined or jailed for 'chupping' a parking spot:

Despite so, many Malaysians still think it is okay to do so:
