Are you trying to register for Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) on the Cost of Living Aid (BSH) or BPN website but it keeps crashing?

You are not alone. Many Malaysians are experiencing the same and have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

When BPN opened for registration yesterday, 1 April, many Malaysians flooded the BPN and BSH websites and found that it took forever for the webpages to load.

But do not worry! The deadline to register for the payout ends on 30 April and the government is aware that the websites are always down.

According to Bernama, members of the public are advised to visit the websites during non-peak hours as they are currently experiencing high traffic.

The report noted that it is because BPN was opened for application yesterday.

However, if you are already a registered BSH recipient or are a registered taxpayer in the M40 segment, you do not need to register for BPN

For those who are already receiving living aids under BSH prior to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's RM250 billion economic stimulus package announcement, you do not have to register for the cash payouts. The payment will be automatically made into the bank account you previously keyed in.

Also, individuals in the B40 group and the M40 who have income tax data with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) do not need to register for BPN. The cash payouts will be automatically credited into the bank account you registered with LHDN - if you are eligible to receive.

As for those who are not a BSH recipient or have never declared their income tax to LHDN, you can register for the payout at the BSH website.

Eligible recipients will receive an email from the government, which states that the payouts will be given in two transactions - once in April and another time in May.
