This was found after a preliminary screening was conducted on all contingents since 13 August, reported Bernama.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) director Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the operation to weed out drug-taking officers had never been stopped.

"Why did we not stop? It is because the (PDRM) top leadership planned to clean the force of unhealthy elements especially drug addicts," said Mohd Khalil.

Mohd Khalil revealed that none of the 142 officers tested positive for drugs were high-ranking officers

While the current drug test results were from preliminary screenings, the JSJN director said a more detailed pathology test will be carried out on these officers.

If they were tested positive again, they would be charged in court.

"When we take action on them, it is the same as the action that we take on members of the public. No mercy," he added.

He said policemen addicted to drugs are suffering from "brain disease"

"We cannot afford to have police officers with brain disease in the PDRM. The force must be clean," he told reporters yesterday, 30 September.

In the first week of 'Ops Blue Devil', 86 police officers had tested positive for methamphetamine

Six police officers tested positive for amphetamines and opiates, two for cannabis, and one for ketamine, reported New Straits Times.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador express shocked that over 100 officers' urine test came out positive for drugs then.

It was seen as an indication that drug abuse in the police force was at a critical and serious level.
