Burglar Breaks Into House & Gets Drunk On Owner's Liquor Before Passing Out On The Floor

A 66-year-old man and his family were in for a rude shock when they discovered a stranger passed out on the living room floor of their single-storey terraced house in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, on Monday, 23 January

According to Sin Chew Daily, the home owner, referred to as Xian Jiangmin (transliteration), and his family were shocked to discover their house in a mess when they woke up at 6am. They then discovered a stranger sleeping on their living room floor.

The man reportedly reeked of alcohol and was believed to have passed out from being drunk after finishing an entire bottle of liquor from Xian's home.

He remained unconscious even when Xian called three policemen to the scene to investigate. The suspect had to be shaken vigorously before he came to and was arrested.

According to Jempol district police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook, the suspect was believed to have broken into Xian's home through an unlocked kitchen backdoor

Police discovered the suspect's motorcycle outside of Xian's property, leading police to believe that the suspect had rode the vehicle to the scene, jumped over the fence, and entered the home.

A pair of slippers belonging to the thief was also found outside of Xian's kitchen area.

According to Bernama, Xian, his wife, and his four children were at home when the incident occurred. The family did not suffer any major losses from the incident.

According to the police, the suspect possessed previous criminal records involving drugs

He has been remanded for four days to aid in investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking and entering.
