CNA Presenter Julie Yoo Faints During Live Broadcast
She was reportedly already feeling unwell prior to her collapse.
CNA presenter Julie Yoo was at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) when she abruptly fainted in the middle of a live broadcast
The incident occurred on 9 November, when Yoo was on CNA's Asia Tonight programme covering the climate talks in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. After a few seconds, however, the presenter collapsed.
Her co-host Jack Board, who was beside her as it happened, was visibly stunned. After a brief moment, he snapped out of his stupor and rushed to check on Yoo, where he could be heard asking, "you okay?"
According to Mediacorp's statement released immediately after the incident, Yoo had been feeling "a little unwell due to dehydration and low blood sugar"
She has since sought medical help and is now feeling better, the statement said.
"She will be resting tonight and will be back on air tomorrow," the company added. "We would like to thank everyone for their concern."
Yoo, who co-hosts CNA's flagship morning show, Asia First, has yet to comment on the incident.
A video of the incident has since been posted on Facebook, amassing more than 68,000 views at the time of this writing
Commenters expressed their sympathy and well-wishes for Yoo's recovery.
One Facebook user also voiced their concern over the increasingly common occurrence of newscasters fainting on live television as of late.
