A touching moment between a Malaysian soldier and her father has gone viral, capturing the hearts of many on social media

The female soldier, part of the fourth group of the Malaysian Battalion 850-12 (MALBATT 850-12) for the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping and humanitarian mission in Lebanon, shared an emotional farewell with her family before departing from Subang Air Base on Monday, 18 November.

In a 42-second TikTok video, the father is seen lovingly feeding his daughter a spoonful of sambal prawn nasi lemak — her favourite dish — as her mother looks on.

Overwhelmed by the gesture, the soldier's eyes welled up with tears as she wiped them away several times.

"My sister loves sambal prawns, so my dad prepared it for her as a way of showing his love before she left for Lebanon," said the soldier's elder sister, who originally posted the video.

Viewers of the viral video expressed admiration for the soldier's courage and the bond she shares with her family

The heartfelt exchange resonated with viewers, many of whom offered prayers and blessings for her safety and success during her UN peacekeeping and humanitarian mission.

"This is so touching. A parent's love is truly irreplaceable. May she stay safe and return to her family soon," one commenter wrote.

Another remarked, "Those who are willing to join MALBATT are brave individuals who are ready to do anything for their family, people, and the nation. May they have a safe journey and return."

Meanwhile, the MALBATT 850-12 contingent underwent intensive physical and mental training to ensure they are fully prepared for the challenges of their peacekeeping mission in Lebanon

According to Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari, the group comprises seven officers and 202 personnel from the Malaysian Armed Forces, led by MALBATT 850-12 deputy commander Lieutenant Colonel Firdaus Shah Budin.

The latest group was deployed after six members of the previous MALBATT contigent were injured in an explosion on 7 November, leading to minor injuries, reported The Star.
