M'sian Girl Group Dolla Shares Scary Encounter With 3 Men Who Claimed To Be "Cops"
It was hard for the Dolla members to believe that they were policemen since they were not in formal attire nor driving a police car.
The police's primary duty is to make people feel safe to be around and protect them whenever something bad happens.
However, it was an unpleasant moment for Malaysian girl group Dolla when they were approached by a group of suspicious men who claimed to be "police officers".
The group took to Twitter, yesterday, 21 December, to share their horrifying encounter while they were waiting for their ride home after their dance rehearsal.
While waiting for their ride, a group of three men in a red Proton suddenly stopped next to them and rolled down the windows to stare at the girls, which made them feel uncomfortable.
"We were scared for our lives, thinking they were going to rob us," read the statement.
It was hard for Dolla to believe that they were policemen since they were not in formal attire, and did not show their police badges nor drive a police car.
The so-called policemen started questioning their nationality and asked them to show their identification card (IC) for confirmation
"They immediately started to interrogate us and asked what we were doing in this area and if we were Malaysians, and they immediately took our IC," the statement continued.
Not just that, they also sneakily took pictures of the victims and their ICs without their consent.
They stated that they felt violated when one of the Dolla members, Syasya, questioned why they wanted to do a check-up on them, to which the men replied in a rude and intimidating tone, "Why not? We are the police".
The girls also mentioned that they felt confused and scared, knowing that it was only the four of them on the street, and they believed they didn't do anything wrong to be treated like that.

When the men noticed a car stop nearby, they quickly handed back their ICs and drove away
They left the place without giving any explanation on why they interrogated the Dolla members.

As they were confused about the whole situation, the girl group decided to reach out to those who had experienced a similar situation before suggesting what they should do
A Twitter user replied with a compilation of the important rights everyone should know when faced with such a situation.
Dolla ended the statement by reminding everyone, especially women, to be safe out there.
