Padang Rengas member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz recently went on a rant on his wife's Instagram following pushback from Malaysians regarding his trip to Paris in the middle of a pandemic
Over the past couple of weeks, many Malaysians have expressed their disapproval of the MP's overseas trip to enrol his five-year-old in school.
According to Free Malaysia Today, Mohamed Nazri said that he obtained the necessary visa from the proper channels and was given clearance by the Immigration Department.
Though unsure when exactly he will be returning, the former minister told the news outlet that he will return before Parliament sits.
"I've got to quarantine for 14 days, so I will fly back at least 15 days before Parliament starts. There is nothing wrong. I know someone from UMNO was trying to go overseas but couldn't because he had a court case to settle. But I have clearance," he said.
The parliament will reconvene on 26 July for five days.

The MP's wife, Haflin Saiful, quoted him saying that people should not tell him how to do his job.
She also noted that Mohamed Nazri denies using the money belonging to Malaysian citizens to go on the trip.
In a series of Instagram Stories, the politician's wife posted several photos of her husband along with quotes from him.
One of them read, "You voted the failed PH (Pakatan Harapan) government in PRU14 (14th General Election). Since 2018 I was no longer a Cabinet Minister. I was not charged in the courts for any act of corruption and abuse of power. How is it I can use rakyat's money to spend in France? Tell me – Nazri Aziz."

In another post, Haflin quoted her husband as saying, "I was elected as MP for Padang Rengas in 1995. I have since contested in the constituency for six terms undefeated with a comfortable majority. 80% of voters are Malays, Muslim, and village folks. So don't teach me how to serve and work for my rakyat in Padang Rengas. Not for you and I don't care."

One netizen noted, "To call the Padang Rengas folks as 'his rakyat' as though he sits on the iron throne and they are all his subordinates, he is so full of himself. You're an MP, not a king!"

Another person wrote, "Based on the statement about Padang Rengas, it is clear on what his objective is. He only cares for the votes that he's achieved but had never spoken on his concern towards the rakyat. He may have won over the votes out of bribery but will never win over our hearts. Make the change!"
