The incident, which took place in Chongqing, has led to the arrest of a 42-year-old woman, surnamed Huang, after she assaulted the 21-year-old delivery worker, surnamed Ran.

According to the South China Morning Post, citing local reports, the incident began when Ran noticed Huang and her friend swerving dangerously on an electric bike.

Concerned for their safety, he reminded them about road safety rules. But his well-intentioned comments were met with hostility.

Despite the onslaught, Ran did not retaliate, instead calling out, "Don't we food delivery workers have human rights? You think you can beat us as much as you like?"

The incident took place on Ran's very first day as a delivery rider.

After the assault, he was taken to a hospital for treatment, though the extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.

Visibly shaken, Ran said, "She kicked my body and my head. I did not strike back. I am still quite dizzy."

As the attack continued, other couriers intervened, attempting to de-escalate the situation.

One bystander confronted Huang, saying, "You want to walk away after beating someone?"

Police officers soon arrived on the scene, taking Huang into custody for questioning. She now faces potential legal consequences for her actions.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation online about the treatment of delivery workers in China

The video, shared widely on platforms like Douyin, has sparked widespread condemnation, with viewers horrified by Huang's aggressive behaviour.

"This woman is outrageous! She thinks she can do what she likes?" one user wrote. Others expressed empathy for Ran's situation, noting, "He could not fight back because he would also be punished. He is so young and just started the job. This incident will surely leave a big mark."

Many called for stricter measures against such abuse, as one user summed it up, "The woman should be punished severely. We cannot let good-hearted people be bullied."
