Recently, an e-hailing driver invaded a woman's privacy

The incident happened in Singapore, where the driver, working for a new e-hailing service called TADA, was able to access the woman's mobile number to drop her a text via WhatsApp.

According to the woman, the incident happened on the morning of 10 December, when the driver picked her up from her home to send her to her destination, as reported by AsiaOne.

"Everything [was] fine, it's just the classic chitter chatter, maybe a bit too many personal questions," she recounted in a TikTok video on her account, which has since been made private.

However, later that night, she received a text from the driver on her WhatsApp. In the text, the e-hailing driver thanked her "for the ride" and then remarked on her physical appearance.

He then proceeded to ask her to "keep in touch".

You look great ... keep in touch.

The remark left the woman feeling disturbed

"That one [is] a bit too much, this man is in his mid-30s, maybe 40s," she said, adding, "This man knows my number, this man knows where I live, and he's telling me that we're going to keep in touch."

She wondered how he got hold of her phone number, and has since lodged a formal complaint with the company, which reached out to her and is handling the issue.

While TADA has number masking to protect user privacy, the feature was not activated for this ride due to a technical issue

AsiaOne quoted a TADA spokesperson as saying that the app's number masking feature was not activated for this ride after facing a technical issue with the company's service provider.

"While incidents like this are [rare], we understand the discomfort [they] might create for our users, even if [such incidents] happen in isolation. We are investigating this issue," the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
