A technician discovered the man's body stuck between the pipes on the sixth floor of the hospital

Gombak district police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe told The Star that a hospital staff noticed a bad odour coming from a room in the hospital at 6.20pm on Tuesday, 9 March. The incident was then reported to the technician.

Arifai Tarawe explained, "He went to check the room and saw a hand dangling between the pipes. He then went to the sixth floor where he discovered the body of the 72-year-old."

The hospital security was alerted and a police report was then lodged at the Selayang Hospital police beat base.

On the other hand, while talking to Harian Metro, the victim's son-in-law explained, "We looked for him everywhere within the hospital compound and as well as at the neighbourhood nearby, worried that he had gone out himself but we failed to find him."

Authorities believe that the victim had fallen from an upper floor

"Six personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department helped to take out the body lodged between the pipes. We are not ruling out the possibility that the victim might have fallen from an upper floor," Arifai said.

He also added the body had been sent for post-mortem.
