A video of a lorry attempting to flee an accident scene has been making its rounds on social media

According to The Star, Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shariat confirmed that the incident took place around 5.50pm on Tuesday, 9 March, at Kampung Bukit Changgang, Banting.

The 20-second clip shows the lorry rear-ending a small car before hitting a motorcyclist.

It then crashed into the signage of a petrol station and flipped sideways into a ditch.

Azman Shariat told Harian Metro, "The driver is believed to have tried to flee after hitting a 21-year-old motorcyclist who was travelling from the direction of Jalan Banting-Dengkil towards the Kuala Lumpur Internation Airport (KLIA)."

"The motorcyclist was hit by the lorry driver who wanted to make a right turn. After the collision, villagers huddled around the lorry and caused him to back up the vehicle, crashing into another motorcyclist as well as a Perodua Kancil."

An angry mob present at the scene attacked the lorry driver, leaving him with injuries to his face, back, hands, and legs

The Star reported that the driver has been identified as 53-year-old Ang Thiam Keong and he is currently receiving medical treatment at the Banting Hospital.

Meanwhile, the motorcyclist involved in the initial collision had also been admitted into the same hospital after having sustained a broken hand along with injuries to his legs.

"The driver of the Perodua Kancil and the rider of the other motorcycle escaped unharmed," Azman Shariat added.
