Fahmi Fadzil Says TikTok Deleted Over 1,000 Videos With Extremist Content After GE15
The Digital Communications Minister said the ministry will also be looking to delete inciting content on other social media platforms.
Digital Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said over 1,000 videos, believed to contain extremist content, were blocked on TikTok on the week that the 15th General Election (GE15) concluded
At a press conference in Putrajaya today, 7 December, Fahmi said the ministry had looked into TikTok due to a surge in videos that brought up the 13 May incident to incite hatred.
The newly-appointed Minister revealed that TikTok had automatically blocked a total of 857 videos with extremist content during the GE15 campaign period.
According to Free Malaysia Today, he said that TikTok banned 175 videos on polling day, 19 November, itself.
Meanwhile, 1,126 videos were deleted between 20 November and 25 November.

The Minister said the videos were blocked automatically through TikTok's artificial intelligence, and added that they will also be looking to delete inciting content on other platforms
"We started with TikTok because we saw a lot of 13 May videos, for example. That was a serious cause for concern," he said, as quoted by The Vibes.
"We also reached out to Meta, because we would like to include WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook."
