Father In Puchong Arrested For Stabbing 20-Month-Old's Stomach Using A Bread Knife

The suspect was believed to be suffering from emotional stress as his wife recently left him.

A man in Puchong was recently arrested after he brutally stabbed his daughter in the stomach

According to Bernama, the incident occurred on Saturday, 12 December at a flat in Puchong Permai.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Abdul Khalid Othman said that police received a complaint from the public at around 4.30pm.

A motorcycle patrol unit from Bukit Puchong police station was then dispatched to the scene.

In a fit of rage, the 27-year-old father stabbed his 20-month-old daughter using a bread knife

Abdul Khalid told Harian Metro that when police arrived at the scene, they arrested the suspect and confiscated the knife used to stab the toddler's abdomen.

Meanwhile, a separate report by Bernama states that the suspect was believed to be suffering from emotional stress as his wife recently left him.

The injured child was rushed to Serdang Hospital to receive treatment but was transferred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) to undergo a surgery. She is now in stable condition.

The suspect will be under remand until Thursday, 17 December

New Straits Times reported that the man tested positive for methamphetamine and the case is currently being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

To assist in the investigation, police are tracking down the suspect's ex-wife, who is the biological mother of the injured baby.
