5 Policemen Arrested During A Raid At Nightclub In Melaka Test Positive For Drugs

The policemen, aged between 23 and 34, were first arrested after a raid was carried out by the Intelligence Team of the Melaka Contingent Police Headquarters and the Melaka Tengah District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND).

It took place in a nightclub at Bandar Hilir, Melaka at about 10:30pm on Thursday, 13 June.

According to The Star Online, the case involves four policemen stationed at Melaka and one from the Kuala Pilah district in Negeri Sembilan.

Melaka Police chief Datuk Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah told Bernama that urine tests were conducted and six of the suspects were tested positive for drugs.

“I view this case seriously and we find it to be very sad because as members of law enforcement, they should be free of criminal activities, misdemeanour and drug abuse," he said in a statement issued yesterday, 14 June. 

“I hope this incident will be a lesson to all police staff and officers not to commit such crimes,” Raja Shahrom said as quoted by Bernama. 

The remand order will last until Sunday, 16 June to assist the police in the investigation under Section 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
