Foreign Ministry Urges Malaysians In The UK To Stay Vigilant Amid Ongoing Riots
Riots broke out across the UK after three girls were killed in a knife attack in Southport on 29 July.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry has advised Malaysians residing in the United Kingdom or travelling to the country to stay away from protests taking place in several areas of the UK
In a statement on Sunday, 4 August, Wisma Putra said the Malaysian High Commission in London is closely monitoring the series of riots breaking out across the UK after three girls were killed in a knife attack in Southport on 29 July.
According to BBC, the 17-year-old individual responsible for the attack was falsely claimed to be a radical Islamist migrant. Police have since identified the assailant as Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, who was born in Britain to parents from Rwanda.
Anti-immigration riots and racist attacks have since erupted in areas where many ethnic minority communities reside, with rioters causing violence and unrest.
