Starting 1 December, all foreigners are required to fill and submit a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before arriving in Malaysia

The Immigration Department of Malaysia recently announced that all foreign travellers must submit the online form within three days prior to arriving in the country.

It is an initiative to improve and digitalise immigration services, in line with the country's visa liberalisation plan to attract more foreign tourists, the department said.

Travellers must present a valid passport and a completed MDAC at all entry points and immigration counters into the country.

You do not need to fill in the MDAC if you are:
- A permanent resident (PR)
- A Malaysia Automated Clearance System (MACS) long-term pass holder
- Transiting through Singapore

The online form takes only a minute to complete

It asks for your personal details, including name, date of birth, nationality, and contact number, as well as your travel details in Malaysia.

After submitting the form, an acknowledgement email will be sent to your inbox, which you can pull up to show to border officers later.

Fill in the MDAC form here.

Additionally, if you are a frequent traveller, you may sign up for immigration clearance via the autogates at KLIA1 and KLIA2 for the next time you enter

The autogate facility is only available for foreign travellers from these 10 countries:
- Australia
- Brunei
- Germany
- Japan
- Korea
- New Zealand
- Saudi Arabia
- Singapore
- United States
- United Kingdom

Travellers who wish to use the autogates must enroll their biometric (fingerprint) and passport at a manual immigration counter in KLIA 1 or 2 upon their first visit.

They may then use the autogates for subsequent visits.

Check if you are eligible to use the e-gates here.
