"I Love You, Papa" — 'Puteri Reformasi' Reminds Anwar The Struggle Is Not Over
Nurul Izzah Anwar shared her thoughts with a couple of iconic photographs of Anwar Ibrahim from two decades ago.
Nurul Izzah Anwar has reminded her father Anwar Ibrahim, the newly-sworn in 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, about the struggle, that began in 1998, to demand justice for everyone and how it isn't over yet
Izzah, who was crowned with the title of 'Puteri Reformasi', meaning the princess of the 1998 reformasi movement, shared her thoughts with a couple of iconic photographs of Anwar from two decades ago.
She said while her father's wait to be Malaysia's Prime Minister since 1998 has finally been realised, he will now face a number of challenges in restoring the country to its former glory.
"In life, in this world, we cannot escape from challenges. When we lose, we are tested, and when we win, we are tested as well," she philosophised in her Instagram post today that has gone viral.
"What is certain is that from 1998 until this second it is incumbent upon us to hold on to the struggle — to demand justice not just for ourselves but to serve as a conduit for the protection of all."
"Challenges still await"
The former Permatang Pauh member of parliament (MP) asked Anwar to now focus on uniting people, scrutinising the economic problems, attracting foreign investments, and addressing other issues.
"...after the swearing-in ceremony, efforts to unite compatriots, examine economic problems, attract investment through economic stimulation and local talent, and build an ummah and a nation based on social justice and patriotism [needs to continue]," Izzah wrote in the post.
According to Izzah, the legacy that should be left behind for future generations is not wealth or titles but idealism and principles
"The legacy that we leave for our children and our future generations is not assets, positions or money, but the idealism and principles of our struggles that cannot be bought or sold," she wrote.
"Make the future, our time together. Khayr (goodness), Insha'Allah (God willing)."
