IGP Warns People To Not Take Part In Demonstrations To Protest Rising Prices Of Goods
Strict action will be taken against demonstration organisers and participants if they fail to abide by the law.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah has warned people against participating in gatherings or flash mobs to protest price hikes of goods if they failed to abide by the law
The warning comes amidst planned demonstrations by Amanah today, 16 July in parliamentary constituencies throughout the country to rally Malaysians to express their discontent against price hikes.
According to Acryl Sani, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have taken note of videos circulating on social media which called people to participate in a flash mob to protest the rising prices of goods.
In a brief media statement today, he said that the people are advised to not participate in any flash mobs or assemblies that do not comply with the conditions under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
He said that police are monitoring the activities that could disrupt public order to ensure the nation's security situation is not affected
The IGP advised people to cooperate by not getting involved in such activities.
Amanah, which is one of the component parties of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, had posted that the party will be facilitating a "Bantah Barang Naik" flash mob near parliament today.
Amanah had previously warned that it will organise a large-scale rally nationwide on 16 July if the federal government under the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition failed to lower the prices of essential goods.
