Immigration Dept Denies Discriminating Against Indian Tourists At KLIA In Viral Video

The tourists were allegedly made to wait for a long time despite having the necessary documents.

The Immigration Department has denied allegations of mistreatment towards Indian tourists at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)

According to Free Malaysia Today, a video went viral after it was posted on Thursday, 4 August, where Indian tourists can be seen seated on the floor and waiting at the customs checkpoint of the arrival hall.

The woman who recorded the video claimed that the tourists were made to wait for an "unnecessarily long time" even though they had the necessary documents.

The Indian tourists were allegedly made to sit on the floor as they waited, which she said was an "act of disrespect".

When contacted by Free Malaysia Today, Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud said that the allegations were false

"There is no discrimination at all. The video is not true," Khairul said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has scheduled a meeting today, 8 August, to clarify the standard operating procedure for arrival and departure in Malaysia.

The meeting will include the Immigration Department and several travel and tour agencies and associations.
