The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a statement saying online motor insurance platform BJAK is not authorised to offer road tax renewal services

In an official statement on Monday, 6 May, JPJ stressed that neither JPJ nor the Transport Ministry have ever approved BJAK to provide such services.

It also stated that claims by the e-commerce platform that it has been "audited, verified, and approved by JPJ" on its website are untrue and misleading to the public.

According to its website, BJAK was founded in 2019.

JPJ said it had received complaints from members of the public whose road tax renewals done through BJAK did not reflect on official websites

"JPJ wishes to clarify and stress that there is no integration between the department's official MySIKAP system and the system used by BJAK," it said.

The department added that it has also not approved of any additional service fees charged by the platform for road tax renewal services.

JPJ has encouraged the public to renew their road tax only through official channels, such as physically at JPJ counters and kiosks, or online via the MyJPJ app, the JPJ website, or via JPJ partner platforms such as Pos Malaysia, MyEG, and PUSPAKOM.

BJAK has acknowledged the issues raised by JPJ, saying it is actively working with the authorities to resolve them

According to a statement yesterday, the platform added it will continue to operate as usual, highlighting that its road tax renewal service is now free and optional to its customers.

BJAK said that it had also passed on any previous charges imposed on customers to JPJ.

"The company reiterates its primary service is auto insurance comparison and renewal, coupled with VIP services specially for its customers," it said.
