A junior nurse in Shanghai was reportedly forced to kneel and apologise to a patient after causing a minor bleeding, sparking widespread debate online

The footage of the incident, which has amassed over 100 million views on social media in China, has triggered both outrage and sympathy.

According to the South China Morning Post, the incident occurred at Renji Hospital, when the nurse was removing an intravenous drip, causing the patient to start bleeding.

A bystander can be heard in the video questioning her competence: "Isn't it your mistake that caused this?"

Visibly distressed, the nurse kneels and says, "I am sincerely sorry."

According to hospital officials, the nurse was pressured into apologising by the patient's relative, who refused to relent.

Fearing a complaint that might jeopardise her job, she complied.

The video has struck a nerve in China, where medical professionals often face intense scrutiny and high demands from patients

Online reactions have largely sided with the nurse, with many viewing her apology as a reflection of the immense pressure faced by frontline healthcare workers.

"When she returned to the nurses' office, she broke down in tears," an unnamed hospital representative revealed, adding that her supervisor stepped in to console her.

It remains unclear whether any action has been taken against the patient's relative, but the incident has reignited discussions about the treatment of medical staff in China's healthcare system.
