Two bodyguards in Kuala Lumpur were allegedly assaulted by their employer for fasting

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah told Sinar Harian that around 10pm on Tuesday, 13 April, the owner of a company in Klang beat up two of his employees after finding out that they were observing the Muslim fasting month.

While at One KL Condominium on Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur, the suspect asked his bodyguards whether they were fasting.

When they said yes, the suspect scolded them and hit one of them in the head using a mobile phone.

The victims were then taken to the suspect's home in Klang where another worker was ordered to beat them using a cane and point a gun at them

Free Malaysia Today reported that the victims sustained bruises on their backs and received treatment for blood clots at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

After that, the victims lodged a police report at Klang police station around 3am on 14 April. Investigations found that the victims worked with a security company as personal bodyguards.

Zainal explained that the employer had prohibited the victims from fasting during Ramadan. In a police report of the incident that has made its rounds on social media, the employee allegedly said, "I already told you not to fast. Who is paying your salary?"

Police have arrested four individuals linked to the case

According to a statement issued by the South Klang district police chief, ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said that the case would be investigated under Sections 324, 506, and 298 of the Penal Code and all suspects will be remanded at the Klang Court today.

He also added, "Police would like to stress that this case does not involve any racial issue."
