Victoria's Secret Party & Married In China: Here Are 'Leads' On Jho Low's Whereabouts

In their YouTube show 'Where is Jho Low?', award-winning journalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope also discussed why a particular country would provide the fugitive businessman a safe haven even with three arrest warrants out for him.

Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, who is involved in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, is allegedly still hiding in China

Bradley Hope, the co-author of the book Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood, and the World, revealed the matter in the first episode of the programme Where Is Jho Low, which was broadcast on YouTube yesterday, 31 August.

Hope previously initiated a search on social media for Jho Low, calling upon netizens to share any possible leads they may have following the imprisonment of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak on 23 August.

In the first episode of the show produced under their YouTube channel Project Brazen, Hope, together with co-writer Tom Wright, also shared a photo showing Jho Low with two unknown individuals at a restaurant in Shanghai Disneyland.

"Based on the information we obtained, Jho Low is in China. We had also received the picture of him on a holiday in Shanghai Disneyland," Hope said, adding that the photo, allegedly dated 24 December 2019, was received from a "trusted source".

"We also know that Jho Low is married and has two kids."

The two authors go on to claim that Jho Low had even showed up at a Victoria's Secret party in China

"And people were shocked that he would dare show his face," Hope said. "It's kind of like his world got smaller and smaller."

"After Najib got arrested, it became just China. Within China, there were four main cities that he was spending time in," he added.

The pair also discussed why China would want to provide a safe haven for the fugitive when there are three arrest warrants out for him, namely in Malaysia, the US, and Singapore.

"Jho Low said he wanted the Chinese to do certain things for him, which included getting the 1MDB probes dropped in the US and elsewhere, and in return the Chinese would get huge infrastructure deals, rail roads, and gas pipelines at these usurious rates that they were going to charge," Wright said, citing meeting minutes that allegedly documented these discussions.

However, the hosts noted that this was only made possible after the fraudster built up his connection to the political class and intelligence network in China over the years of working with Najib.

When Najib lost power, some of those deals were "hugely rewritten" and were "such a bad deal for Malaysia", which explains why Jho Low would be allowed to stay in China

"He knew all these kinds of things about how the Belt and Road Initiative works, and it would be hugely embarrassing for China if Jho Low were to turn up in a court like in the US or Malaysia," said Wright.

"If all these countries in the developing world knew about the details, really understood it, and saw it from the testimony of someone, and saw how they were trying to essentially undermine the sovereignty of a nation state using money — that would be the worst nightmare for China," said Hope.
