US Actress Claims Jho Low Paid Her RM103,800 To Be His Super Bowl Date
Emily Ratajkowski said she was clueless about the escort job, other than knowing she was paid by the hour.
US actress and model Emily Ratajkowski said Malaysian fugitive financier Low Taek Jho paid her USD25,000 (about RM103,800) for a night of her company
The 30-year-old made the revelation while speaking to UK magazine The Sunday Times to promote her memoir titled My Body, reported Malay Mail.
The actress — who appeared topless in Robin Thicke's controversial music video Blurred Lines — said she could not remember the details of the arrangement with the flamboyant financier, commonly known as Jho Low.
She was told to accompany Low to attend the Super Bowl, the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) in the US.
Ratajkowski said she was unsure why she was there, how long she had to stay, and who her agent had to check with at the end of the night to know whether she could leave
All she knew was that she was paid by the hour, saying, "I was on the clock."
The actress, who is now on a mission to raise awareness on the way the entertainment industry treats women, did not state which edition of the Super Bowl she was hired for the escort job.
In a televised interview with CBS Mornings, Ratajkowski admitted to "exploiting herself" and "using her body" to get "fame and success", reported Daily Mail.
She confessed to "capitalising on her sexuality" when she was younger and said she saw self-exploitation as a form of "empowerment" at that time.
Now that she is older, the mother of one thinks otherwise. The actress now aims to shine a light on how the entertainment industry manipulates young women and offers them incentives to go to parties with men.
Other than Blurred Lines, the actress also appeared in Maroon 5's Love Somebody and acted alongside Ben Affleck in the 2014 thriller hit, Gone Girl.
There are many alleged accounts of Low throwing parties that were attended by A-list stars and renowned singers
One party in particular, to celebrate his 30th birthday, Low reportedly invited more than 300 guests to a giant tent erected on an empty five-acre space along the Las Vegas strip in Nevada, reported The Edge.
Celebrities who attended the party include Leonardo di Caprio, Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, PSY, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian, among others.
He is also said to have invited models and songstresses to luxurious dinners. Former Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr and Taiwanese pop star Elva Hsiao were some of the people Low tried to woo.
Many of the celebrities mentioned also received lavish gifts from the wanted financier accused of being the mastermind behind the billion-dollar 1MDB scandal.
