The body of an unidentified person was found inside the wheel well of an aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) this morning, 27 August
The body was discovered at about 6.55am after the aircraft, which had flown from Tokyo, Japan, landed at KLIA2 at approximately 6.30am.
According to the New Straits Times, the body was found by engineering personnel who were assigned to open the aircraft's wheel well.
The personnel reportedly noticed a foul smell coming from the wheel well before opening the compartment, where they subsequently discovered the body.
The matter was then reported to the KLIA2 police station operations room.
Police forensic personnel were later deployed to the scene to conduct further investigations.
Initial investigations found that the victim, whose gender has yet to be determined, was believed to be in their 20s and may have been dead for more than 72 hours
The victim was reportedly dressed in jeans and a white shirt. However, no identification documents were found on the body.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the victim's identity and cause of death.
