Lim Guan Eng, today, 24 November, apologised to Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg and his Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government for past remarks that "may have offended" them

In a statement, the DAP chairperson said that he offers his apology for his remarks that may have offended the Sarawak Premier and the Sarawak state government.

"The future of the country is more important," he said, adding, "Let us make a fresh start to cooperate together to preserve the diversity, inclusiveness, and unity of our multi-racial and multi-cultural society."

In 2019, Lim, as finance minister at the time, claimed that Sarawak will go bankrupt in three years if GPS continued to rule the state

The Sarawak government had chided Lim over his statement, calling it misleading and politically motivated.
