Passengers on an LRT train on Monday, 24 May, faced a harrowing moment when the vehicle suddenly reached a halt before crashing into another train.

27-year-old Afiq Luqman Mohd Baharudin was on the train when the collision happened.

Recounting his experience, he told Berita Harian, "The situation was calm in the train before it suddenly turned into panic with the sound of passengers screaming."

"While on the way heading towards Kampung Baru Station, the train suddenly halted, causing people to be flung and fall in the train," he said.

He also noted that the accident happened in a blink of an eye.

"Before the accident, the train stopped for about 15 minutes before it started moving again. Not even 10 seconds after that, there was a crash and the impact was very strong."

"I sustained injuries to the head, left leg, and chest," he added.

Afiq said that along with other passengers, he was rescued by a safety team and was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for medical treatment.
