1,594 New COVID-19 Cases Recorded As MOH Considers Letting Patients Quarantine At Home

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Malaysia to date is 106,690. Currently, there are 20,643 active cases with patients receiving treatment in hospitals throughout the country.

MOH also recorded three new deaths today, making the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Malaysia climb to 455.

With 328 new patients testing positive for COVID-19, Hulu Langat tops the list as the district with the most number of COVID-19 cases reported today.

MOH noted that out of the 697 new cases in Selangor, 362 are from existing clusters while 231 are from close-contact screening.

This is the same for movement orders in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Seremban, Johor Bahru, and Batu Pahat.

During a press conference earlier today, the Defence Minister said that the CMCO in Kulai and Port Dickson will end as scheduled on 28 December.

The MOH official Twitter account wrote that they are mulling over two particular solutions: one is to quarantine positive patients at home, depending on the condition of their living space and the other alternative is to quarantine asymptomatic patients and those who are mildly symptomatic at work hostels.

However, MOH stressed that as of now, the ministry's health facilities are still able to accommodate the surge of patients.
