A Malaysian mother has died four days after undergoing a breast augmentation surgery allegedly performed by an unlicensed beautician at a two-storey house in Skudai, Johor

According to Oriental Daily, the 29-year-old victim, surnamed Chen (transliteration), died at 7am last Wednesday, 2 August.

She is survived by her 32-year-old husband, surnamed Huang (transliteration), nine-year-old son, and 12-year-old son.

She was a full-time housewife who always put her children first. When she was admitted to the hospital after experiencing complications allegedly arising from the hyaluronic acid breast augmentation surgery, she told her husband that she was worried about her children in case something happened to her.

Her two children burst into tears after learning about their mother's death and insisted on coming to the three-day wake. They also insisted on attending the funeral and cremation ceremony yesterday, 6 August.

China Press reported that about 50 friends and relatives came to pay their last respects yesterday morning.

The surgery allegedly took place on 29 July when Chen visited the beautician's home in Taman Mutiara Rini

She initially planned to undergo a micro-facial 'thread-pulling' surgery to make her skin firmer, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Huang claimed that the beautician then coaxed his wife into undergoing a breast augmentation surgery, insisting that the materials had already been bought and the surgery must proceed.

Huang claimed that Chen eventually relented and experienced chest pain after the surgery. When his wife tried to pay for the service, the beautician reportedly refused to accept the payment.

According to Oriental Daily, the beautician allegedly performed the operation at home without proper infection prevention measures. This included wearing a watch during the procedure and not using protective gear, such as a scrub cap, to cover their hair.

"The next day (30 July), my wife was still very unwell. Accompanied by a friend, she went to a nearby clinic for a consultation at noon. After the consultation, the doctor deduced that it was caused by anesthesia overdose," Huang told reporters.

"At around 7pm, the situation did not improve. Her wound was still painful and uncomfortable. She immediately went to a nearby private hospital for treatment," he said.

The victim spent two days in the hospital before succumbing to the condition

She was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) in the morning of 2 August after reporting that she could no longer walk. She died at 7am.

A preliminary examination indicated that the cause of death was likely due to a significant amount of bacteria discovered in Chen's chest.

However, Huang said a detailed report on the cause of death would take three months. The hospital has sent Chen's blood samples for testing, reported Oriental Daily.

Based on the chat history between Chen and the beautician, Huang said the latter allegedly messaged his wife after learning about her hospitalisation, requesting her not to disclose too much about the surgery to the doctors to avoid potential arrest.

When interviewed by reporters, Huang said that he would appoint a lawyer and sue the beautician after the funeral. He also said he would lodge a police report over the matter, reported China Press.

The vicitm's funeral and cremation ceremony was held at Wisma Tiong Hua, Johor Bahru.
