On Sunday, 8 May, passengers travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan had to endure about an hour of sweltering heat and sweat due to the plane's technical issues.

Many passengers are seen using various items to fan themselves while young children can be heard crying in the background.

Due to the baking conditions in the belly of the aircraft, some parents resorted to removing some clothing from their infants in order to cool them down.

The incident, of course, angered the passengers and many netizens who learned about the issue online.

In a statement, Malaysia Airlines explained that the flight was found to have technical issues when the aircraft engine was turned on

Unfortunately, passengers had already boarded the plane, and the plane did not manage to leave the airport because of the faulty system.

According to Berita Harian, the aircraft, had to return to a bay after the second procedure to start the engine failed when the aircraft was being pushed backwards away from its parking position.

Due to the technical difficulties, the air conditioner was unavailable, which left a flight full of people to suffer from the intense Malaysian heat.

It also stated that a passenger needed emergency medical assistance during the incident.

"After that, the passengers were transferred to another plane, which departed from Kuala Lumpur at 1.37pm and arrived safely in Sandakan at 4.30pm," the statement said.

It added that Malaysia Airlines regretted the delay and apologised once again for the inconvenience experienced by passengers.
