Malaysia Has The Most Skyscrapers in Southeast Asia And Ranks 4th Globally

Malaysia ranks behind only China, the US, and the UAE.

Malaysia boasts a total of 366 skyscrapers, making it the country with the highest number of skyscrapers in Southeast Asia

Citing data from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Indonesia-based news outlet Seasia reported that Malaysia has 293 buildings taller than 150m, 67 buildings taller than 200m, and six buildings taller than 300m.

Malaysia dominates in all three height categories when compared to its neighbouring countries.

Globally, Malaysia ranks second in Asia and fourth in the world in terms of the number of skyscrapers

According to the latest data available as of February 2024, Malaysia experienced a significant surge in its ranking among countries with the most skyscrapers, advancing from sixth place in 2023 to fourth place within just a year.

Malaysia ranks behind only China, the US, and the UAE, which have 4549, 1168, and 527 skyscrapers, respectively.

Indonesia ranks second among Southeast Asian countries in terms of the highest number of skyscrapers, with 188, followed bythe Philippines with 168 and Thailand with 163

Singapore has 130 skyscrapers and none of them are above 300m in height. 

Kuala Lumpur takes the lead as the city with the highest count of skyscrapers in the region.

Meanwhile, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Petaling Jaya have also secured positions among the top 15 cities with the most skyscrapers in Southeast Asia.
