Seberang Perai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor told New Straits Times that the 26-year-old housewife had lodged a report against her 43-year-old blacksmith husband after the attack.

The victim was also treated at Seberang Jaya Hospital for a 3cm scratch on her head.

The victim had been busy with house chores, which was why she could not immediately make a drink for the man

Free Malaysia Today reported that the victim had made a distress call to the police at 3pm, claiming her husband had beaten her.

Police later found out that the man often abused the victim throughout their five-year marriage. The couple have two children, aged three and five years old.

"They often fight due to pressure and he has hit her on numerous occasions," Noorzainy told New Straits Times.

"The cause of the latest incident is the victim being slow in preparing a drink for the suspect as she was busy with other house chores. The suspect then took the iron and hit her on the head."

Upon arrest, the abuser was tested positive for morphine and found to have a history of convicted drug abuse

He was arrested on New Year's Day at 8.40pm, while police were making their crime prevention rounds.

Noorzainy told New Straits Times that the suspect is currently under a four-day remand and is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
