The rape attempt occurred after the 23-year-old victim wrongly entered a car which she thought was the Grab ride she ordered
The woman was supposed to get into a Perodua Bezza, but she entered a Proton Gen2 instead.
"The victim booked a ride from Jalan Yahya Awal to go to Larkin. After receiving a notification from the Grab driver, she got into the (Gen2) right away without checking the plate number and the model," Johor Bahru south police chief Asst Comm Shahurinain Jais was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.
"The suspect then impersonated a Grab driver and drove off before the victim realised he wasn't using the right route to Larkin," he added.

After circling the Gen2 in the same area, the man moved to the backseat and slapped the 23-year-old for trying to escape
"The victim managed to escape but fell on the road," Shahurinain said, according to New Straits Times.
"(He) then pulled down the victim's pants and released semen, but the victim believed there was no penetration as she did not feel any pain," he added.
The Pakistan national reportedly left the victim about four minutes after the incident, and she hailed another car to lodge a report at the Larkin Police Station.
The victim was sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for checks and further treatment, and no injury was found on her body.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 376 and 511 of the Penal code
He faces charges for rape and attempt to commit offences in line with the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, the Gen2, a mobile phone, a black T-shirt, a pair of jeans and a bunch of keys have been seized for the investigation.
According to Shahurinain, the Pakistani man tested negative for drugs.
